A special part of the art garden is that adults make art with and alongside their preschooler! This is a space where we will support you to explore your own creativity, and learn how to support creativity in those around you.
Each session will start with access to paper and crayons, and art- based picture books for children to begin to settle into the space. Some weeks we will visit the gallery spaces together to practice looking at artworks and for inspiration. There may be a game or activity to introduce some of the ideas and language that support the artmaking activity for the week. We will always have a generous amount of time to explore the materials and techniques being featured that week.
The focus of the session will be the same for two weeks, then a new focus will be introduced.
Times and cost
There are two sessions to choose from, both on Thursday; 9.30 - 10.15 and 10.45 - 11.30. Each session is limited to 10 families. You must book for the whole term, which is $24 for an 8 week programme.
Morning tea
We welcome participants in both sessions to bring their morning tea to eat in the sheltered outdoor space between the pod and the main building, or inside if the weather is bad. This space will be available for you between 10.15 and 10.45.
What to bring
Dress for mess! If we are using dye or paint, it will be washable, but stains may resist. You may want to bring an art apron or old shirt to use, or pack a change of clothes for your child.
